Humid weather continues with a chance for showers and thunderstorms

HARRISONBURG VA: (Rocktown Now) – The threat of showers and thunderstorms will increase today with hot and humid weather continuing. Temperatures will reach the low and mid 90’s and the heat index will be near 100 both today and Friday. Some temperature records may be broken. Not from the daytime highs but from the overnight temperatures. The record “highest” overnight low for today’s date is 69 for both today and Friday. A cold front will drop south, into the valley starting late Friday and helping reduce temperatures and humidity for the upcoming weekend.

Tonight: partly cloudy with a thunderstorm in spots in the evening, then fog late and humid. Any thunderstorm can cause flash flooding and damaging winds. Low 68. Winds west southwest 3-6 mph.

Friday: hot and humid with times of clouds and sun; a couple of afternoon thunderstorms. Thunderstorms can bring hail and damaging winds. High 92. Winds west-northwest 4-8 mph.

Saturday: mostly cloudy and not as warm but humid with a thunderstorm in parts of the area in the afternoon. High 81. Winds north-northeast 4-8 mph.

Sunday: partly sunny and pleasant. High 79. Winds north-northeast 4-8 mph.

Monday: variable cloudiness with a couple of showers, mainly early in the day. High 78. Winds
south 3-6 mph.

Tuesday: a couple showers in the morning. Partly sunny. High 84. Winds south 3-6 mph.
