BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The No. 6/No. 10 Bridgewater College baseball team erupted in a 21-4 win over Route 42 rival EMU at home Wednesday.

Score: No. 6/No. 10 Bridgewater (BC) 21, EMU 4
Records: BC (21-5, 5-4), EMU (10-13, 1-7)

How It Happened
• The BC offense stepped on the gas immediately in the first inning and pounced on every offensive charge. The EMU Royals struggled to find a groove on the mound while missing locations and drawing walks to add to the erupting BC offense.
• Trent Holland got the explosive scoring started in the opening frame with a drilled RBI double to score Bransen Hensley. The Eagles began a commanding offensive surge as the second inning mounted a dominating advantage. A massive 11-run inning ensued as Nick Stavros, Hensley, Zack Chadwell, Bryce Suters, Chandler Valbak, and Jake Harris all recorded RBIs. Stavros began with a walk to score an RBI and then ripped a three-run double that same inning to score Harris, Valbak, and Suters. The Eagles surged to a 12-1 advantage after a lone run was scored by the Royals in the top of the second off a sacrifice fly.
• The Royals put three more runs on the board attempting to gain some offensive traction, but the Eagles successfully generated more offensive power. In the bottom of the third, Suters pounded an RBI double to right field, knocking in Trent Holland.
• At a 12-4 advantage, the Eagles pressed on the gas in the fourth inning, to completely hold control of the game. Seven more runs were tacked on the board as the Eagles impressively hit for the cycle in the same inning. Stavros started off with a solo homer; Suters next singled for two RBIs, then Valbak tripled to knock in two RBIs, and Stavros finished with a double to add two more RBIs to round out the frame with an astounding 17-run lead.
• The pitching held down from there as Lucas Cash went five full innings, to then be relieved in the sixth. Caleb Grizzard and Matthew Bishop did not let up a run to stand strong with the lead and finish with a 21-4 victory and a run-rule decision after seven innings.

Game Notes
• Nick Stavros shined in the win with an impressive seven RBIs including two runs and three hits.
• Chandler Valbak and Bryce Suters also combined for eight RBIs, five runs, and three hits.
• EMU cycled through eight pitchers in the setback.
• The Eagles offense only received two strikeouts, and in return had 21 runs on 11 hits.
• Lucas Cash earned his fourth win of the season with four strikeouts in five innings on a seven-inning run rule victory.
