ASHLAND, Va. (BC Athletics)- The No. 6/10 Bridgewater College baseball team rolled to a sweep in the doubleheader against nationally recognized Randolph-Macon Saturday on the road.

How It Happened
Game 1
• The Eagles fought back and pulled off a late-game surge to suffice the win while prevailing in an attempted rally in the ninth by RMC. The Jackets marked two runs on the board to get the scoring going in the opening frame with an RBI single and a bases-loaded RBI walk.
• In the second inning, Trent Holland responded with a solo dinger over the left field wall. The Jackets propelled an added run to continue advancing their lead with a 3-1 stance with a sacrifice fly.
• Zack Chadwell rang the score up one with a sac fly in return to send home Bransen Hensley. Soon after, Bryce Suters barreled a double to the right-center gap in the outfield scoring in Jakson Walter and bringing the Eagles to a tie ballgame. The Jackets came to bat in the fourth and advanced to another run with a second sac fly.
• The Eagles responded once more to knot the game at four apiece as Hensley laced a single to right field to bring home Ashton Smith. From there, BC ignited an offensive surge behind a go-ahead two-run homer by Zack Chadwell in the fifth inning. Suters followed up the next inning with a smoked double to the outfield to send home Walter.
• The Jackets were trailing by three runs in the sixth inning at 7-4 but soon pressed the gas and responded with a two-run home run.
• The hot bat from Suters continued in the seventh inning and rang in an additional two runs with a double, making the score stand at 9-6. In the ninth, the Jackets worked their way to bases loaded while answering with a pair of RBIs. The Eagles stood strong and claimed victory at 9-8.
Game 2
• This time around, the Eagles came soaring from the start and never let up. BC shutdown the entire RMC offense with the strong arm of Evan Bert. From defensive closes and offensive surges, BC controlled the game the whole way. Zack Chadwell sent out a three-run homer to open the score. Shortly after, Trent Holland launched a solo homer to make the score stand 3-0 out of the first inning.
• In the third inning, BC collected four more runs as Jake Harris put a hard grounder out to second to get Jakson Walter to score. The third home run was then sent out as Ashton Smith rocketed the ball over the left field wall and scoring Chandler Valbak.
• The power hitting did not stop there. Valbak got involved with the home run crew and launched a three-run homer to left field for a commanding 10-0 lead in the fourth inning.
• The next inning, the gas was pressed even more with seven runs. The momentum was fully in BC’s hands after RBIs from Smith, Nick Stavros, Bransen Hensley, Chadwell, and Holland.
• BC closed out successfully with an added two runs from the fifth and sixth home run of the game for the Eagles off the bats of Luke Tomajczyk and Chase Ford to hold a dominating 19-0 shutout.
Game Notes
Game 1
• Bryce Suters shined offensively leading the Eagles with four RBIs along with three hits on four at-bats.
• Both teams shared 12 hits and seven walks.
• On the mound, Cam Nuckols earned his eighth win with a final stat line of seven innings pitched on nine hits, five earned runs, and four strikeouts.
Game 2
• Six different Bridgewater players smacked home runs.
• Evan Bert went the complete game pitching seven full innings along with just two hits and eight strikeouts.
• Zack Chadwell sent out his eighth homer of the season while highlighting four RBIs in the commanding win.
