FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (BC Athletics) – The nationally ranked Bridgewater College baseball team fell 3-0 to nationally recognized Mary Washington on the road Tuesday.

Score: (RV) Mary Washington (UMW) 3, No. 6/No. 10 Bridgewater (BC) 0
Records: BC (20-5), UMW (17-7)

How It Happened
• The opposing Eagles squad shut down the bats from the Bridgewater Eagles squad all afternoon. UMW’s starting pitcher went deep into the matchup, going eight complete innings while facing two batters in the ninth to seal the shutdown win against the BC offense. The BC offense struggled to gain traction.
• UMW took advantage of the strong defensive outing with a first punch in the third inning. BC gave up a run on a fielder’s choice to give the Mary Washington Eagles a 1-0 lead. The BC Eagles could not answer after the initial punch.
• Jaden Isidro found a strong push on the mound going seven innings to give the Crimson & Gold a fighting effort. However, UMW held down defensively with the starting pitcher staying in control.
• The UMW Eagles went up two more runs in the eighth inning, adding extra cushion to the small lead. A walk caused a run to score on bases loaded, and another run was added to the board on a throwing error in the infield. BC still could not get the bats working to get runs to score and were limited to just three hits in the game. The pitcher’s duel went late into the game. BC threatened with two runners on base, but the UMW Eagles got out of the jam and closed out for the 3-0 shutout.

Game Notes
• Only eight total hits were recorded from both teams in a strong pitching performance.
• Jaden Isidro limited UMW to just two runs, five hits, and one walk in the tight contest after pitching 7.1 innings on three strikeouts and 28 batters faced. UMW’s Matthew Boyd went eight complete innings with three hits and four strikeouts.
• The three hits were recorded by Nick Stavros, Bransen Hensley, and Zack Chadwell.
