NEW ORLEANS (JMU Athletics) – James Madison guard Cliff Davis was named the Sun Belt Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Davis averaged 24.5 points per game in a pair of road wins for JMU last week as the Dukes ran their win streak to five.

Davis shot 18-of-29 (.621) from the floor and 6-of-14 (.429) from three, while also averaging 5.0 rebounds. He scored 22 points in a 67-65 road win at Coastal Carolina on Feb. 18 and a season-high 27 points in an 80-65 triumph at Georgia State on Feb. 21.

The native of Thomasville, Ga., joins Justin McBride (Dec. 2) as JMU players to be named the Sun Belt Player of the Week in the 2025-26 season.

Davis has scored at least 10 points in 12 straight games and is averaging a team-leading 16.8 points per game in conference play. The guard has six 20-point games and leads the conference in threes (90) while ranking second in three-point percentage (.383).

As of Feb. 23, Davis ranks sixth on the JMU single-season threes list, needing one to tie Julius Wells (2009-10) for fifth with two regular-season games remaining.

JMU returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, Feb. 25, as it takes on Georgia Southern at 8 p.m. (ET) inside the Atlantic Union Bank Center. The game will stream on ESPN+ and WSVA 92.1 FM | 550 AM with Dave Riggert.
