UPPERCO, Md. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College men’s golf ‘B Team’ went on the road Monday to compete at the Stevenson Fall Invitational at Piney Branch Golf Club. For the first time in program history, the men’s program this year becomes the first team to win back-to-back tournaments after also winning at the Kinder Williams Invitational on Sept. 16.

The Eagles shot a team score of 299, besting the host school, Stevenson, by seven strokes in a 13-team field.

“To go on the road, and play a very difficult Piney Branch Golf Club, without the benefit of a practice round and best the host team on the home course, is a great accomplishment for this group and Bridgewater men’s golf,” assistant golf coach Mike Clark said.

In the individual standings, sophomore Will Layton secured medalist honors at the one-day event with an impressive one under par

Individually, Will Layton took the medalist honors at the one-day event with an impressive score of one under par, 70 among 66 golfers. Freshman Jackson Baugher competed for the first time on the road and put together a solid round of golf with a score of 75 to capture a top-five finish. Additionally, sophomore Christian Carroll carded a 76 to also sit in the top five.

The fourth finisher for Bridgewater was sophomore Gage Hull. Hull rounded out the counting scores with a 78, landing him comfortably within the top 20. Junior Miles Rhoden rounded out the Bridgewater golf team with a score of 80.

The men’s golf team will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 5 for a two-day invitational at Sinking Valley Invitational hosted by Penn State Altoona in Altoona, Pa.
