BRIDGEWATER, Va. (BC Athletics) – The Bridgewater College baseball team landed a spot in the NCAA regionals for the first time since 2014 and the first time under Ben Spott’s tenure. The Eagles will face Scranton in a double-elimination format in the Washington and Jefferson regional in Washington, Pa., beginning on Friday, May 15.

The Eagles stand with a 33-13 record heading into the NCAA tournament. They recently worked their way far in the ODAC tournament with a win over top-seed Lynchburg. They ended the conference tournament short of the championship after falling in the elimination game in the ODAC finals round against eventual ODAC champion, Shenandoah, and a rematch loss to Lynchburg. Entering the matchup with Scranton, the Scranton Royals hold a 28-15 record and recently are coming off a title win in the Landmark Conference.

The other two teams in Bridgewater’s region is the host institution, Washington and Jefferson as well as Chicago. Washington and Jefferson won its conference tournament in the PAC after taking an 11-2 victory over Grove City. The final remaining team is Chicago. The Chicago Maroons finished the season 27-13 and took the UAA title with a four-game series sweep over New York University.

All games will be played at Washington and Jefferson College at Ross Memorial Park on May15-17.
