How it Happened
• The Eagles were on the defensive in the opening minutes of the match. Elizabeth Zimmerman ripped the first shot attempt of the match in the second minute, but it was off the mark. A corner kick opportunity at the 4:20 mark was taken by Mary Parrish Green. The cross found Amelia Manke in the box for the first goal of the contest.
• In the tenth minute, Birkley had the first shot opportunity for the Eagles. Birkley’s shot found the gloves of the W&L keeper. The shot attempt was followed by a couple of corner opportunities. Shots from Katherine King and Birkley were unable to find the back of the net.
• In the 22nd minute, Sydney Devory sent a shot on target, but it was stopped by Erinn Lockard.
• Laura Narby took the final shot attempt of the half in the 37th minute, but it was out wide.
• The action remained in Bridgewater’s defensive half for the majority of the second half. The Zimmerman sisters, Devory, and Burke all ripped off shots before BC mustered a shot attempt.
• Birkley took the first Eagles shot attempt of the half in the 68th minute after being fouled in the Generals defensive end. She took the free kick from far and put it on the mark, but it was stopped by the W&L goalkeeper.
• At the 83:12 mark, Washington and Lee’s Parish sent a corner opportunity in the box. It bounced off Elizabeth Zimmerman and found the foot of Helen Otteni. Otteni’s shot found nylon, giving the Generals a 2-0 edge.
• In the 86th minute, Birkley and Narby came dangerously close to putting the Eagles on the board, but were stopped twice by W&L, and were called offsides.
