LYNCHBURG, Va. (BC Athletics) – Bridgewater College men’s basketball fell to Randolph in ODAC action by a final score of 89-80 on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Bridgewater College Eagles (BC) have dropped to 7-16 overall and 3-11 in conference play, and the Randolph College Wildcats (RC) have moved to 5-18 overall and 1-13 in the ODAC.

How It Happened
An early scoring surge for the Wildcats set the Eagles back. RC sparked a 10-0 scoring run to open the game, while the Eagles searched for answers in the early going. Jahmir Brown helped the Eagles gain an offensive flow to keep the deficit within double digits. Kyren Smith then nailed a shot from deep to close the gap to two points at 15-13.

BCE struggled to find traction and push forward to claim the lead as the Wildcats plunged ahead to strike up a 10-point lead under six minutes to go in the first half. Shooting efficiency was lowered in the final minutes of the first half. The Wildcats closed the half with a 42-36 advantage.

Carter Palmer got the offense going in the second half to cash in a close bucket in the paint, staying within striking distance. RC held still and continued powering the offense off three pointers. The lead went back up to 10 points at 60-50 in seven minutes of play.

BC was called for late fouls leading to free buckets at the charity stripe, lifting the advantage to 11 points. The Eagles continued to get stopped in offensive sets, and the Wildcats countered successfully. RC commanded a 15-point lead and the largest lead of the day to settle the momentum.

The Wildcats closed out the final minutes in control and finished with an 89-80 final score.

Game Notes
• Jahmir Brown shot an efficient 9-13 from the field to total a game-high 25 points.
• The Eagles went 0-4 from three in the second half while the Wildcats went 5-11. Randolph also made eight three pointers in the first half alone.
• Bridgewater used help from the bench to post 44 bench points.
