Preliminary Hearing Set for Man Accused of Killing Wintergreen Police Officer

WINTERGREEN, Va – A preliminary hearing has been set for the Maryland man accused of shooting and killing a Wintergreen Police officer last Friday.

Daniel Barmak was arraigned Tuesday on four felony counts in Nelson County General District Court, including aggravated murder of a law enforcement officer. He will remain in custody until an October 4th hearing date.

The 23-year-old Barmak is accused of slaying 31-year-old Officer Chris Wagner II around 10 o’clock Friday night, after the officer responded to an assault in progress on Arrowood Lane.

A public funeral service for Wagner is set for noon on Monday at the Augusta Expo Event Center.
